WELCOME TO THE CHOIR
The Sunrise Choir was established in 1978 shortly after the founding of what was then known as Sunrise Baptist Church, by members who loved to gather together and sing in harmony! Since that time the Choir has been a significant part of our Church community. The Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings, August through May, in preparation for Sunday services throughout the year. In addition the Choir participates in the annual “Songs of Christmas” Concert, Spring Choir Concert, and additional events.
Our Choir songs, or Anthems, are selected from both contemporary worship music and traditional hymns, often with refreshed arrangements by current composers. We strive to honor many musical traditions as we lead the congregation in worship and praise. On any given Sunday you will hear the choir singing energetic melodies with a full band or contemplative anthems with piano and organ.
The Sunrise Choir is a vibrant community of over 50 Christ-focused singers worshipping together in harmony. We come from a variety of musical traditions and skill levels, with many members exploring choral singing for the first time. All abilities are welcome and encouraged!
As we celebrate over 50 years of music ministry, we’re looking for Christ-focused singers to join us for our 2025–2026 season with rehearsals starting August 16, 2025. Whether you're a seasoned vocalist or simply passionate about worship, there’s a place for you here.

Meet the conductor
Our choir conductor, Aaron Gallington has been serving Sunrise Community Church since 2023 when he began attending with his family and looking for ways to be involved. Shortly thereafter he joined the Sunrise staff and took on the role of choir conductor.
Aaron was born and raised in Bakersfield, California where he developed his gift and passion for music in both secular and sacred settings. As a child Aaron was immersed in a tradition of worship through a capella singing with the Westside Church of Christ. He attended Pepperdine University as a Meredith Wilson Memorial Scholarship recipient (composer of the famed musical “The Music Man”). At Pepperdine, Aaron studied theater and classical vocal performance under the guidance of American tenor Henry Price. There he began to study opera and trained in operatic performance. Upon graduation, Aaron and his wife Kyli traveled throughout California and landed in Santa Barbara where he earned both a Teaching Credential and Masters degree in Classical Voice from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Since that time, Aaron has continued to perform professionally throughout the Golden State in both opera and musical theater, as well as on the concert stage. He balances his life with a career as a professional educator in the San Juan Unified School District and as the Choir Conductor at Sunrise Community Church.
One of his greatest joys is serving Sunrise Community Church and leading others into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. He is passionate about using his musical gifts to cultivate a heart and spirit of worship as we walk together to be followers of Jesus.
