All too often people talk about Middle Schoolers in a belittling and limiting way. They teach them simple petty lessons, they expect little of them, and don’t really engage their mind or their faith. In short, a lot of Middle School ministries are simply entertaining their students. That drives us crazy!
We’ve learned from experience that Middle School students are totally capable of experiencing God’s love in a way that shakes them to their core! We aim to get students to have a ridiculous amount of fun, to feel secure and connected with others their age as well as some adult leaders and most importantly, to develop a life-altering relationship with Jesus Christ.
We don’t just spoon-feed students. We challenge them often to take part in what is going on and experience God for themselves through our conversations, different worship activities, service opportunities and plenty more. In short, we want to be a place that’s safe but not necessarily comfortable for Middle Schoolers. Somewhere they know they can come to with issues and problems going on in their life to get help. But, also somewhere they know will challenge them to become more like Jesus would have them to be.
Sunrise Middle School Ministry (MSM) is for all 6th-8th grade students. We typically meet in the Youth Center (E Building) on Sunday mornings from 9-10:15AM for our main worship time and on Wednesday Nights from 6:30-8pm for Small Groups. We hope to see you there!
